The Simplified 401(k)

The 401(k) started in 1978 when Congress amended the IRS code to add section 401(k). This changed retirement plans unlike before. Until 1978, most retirement (pension) plans were managed by professional investment managers.

The 401(k) did just the opposite, it made the “rank-and-file” employee within a 401(k) plan, the “investment manager” of their own retirement assets. What skills did these employees possess to allow them to manage such a largely important asset within their personal balance sheet? Nothing. As a result, we at David Gratke Wealth Advisors, LLC believe the traditional “do it yourself” 401(k) plan is fundamentally flawed in three ways.

DGWA has teamed up with a La Jolla, CA based The Retirement Consulting Group* to address and remedy the three flaws which are:
  • Plan Underperformance
  • Personal Liability for Sponsors
  • Complicated Administrative Burden
Whether you are a company owner (Plan Sponsor), Participant of a 401(k), or local Financial Advisors, DGIA is your consultative path to the Simplified 401(k).
